In this case it was a robot with a human physician on a screen discussing end of life. It didn&#8217;t work out well.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c47e369 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c47e369\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Check this situation out\u2014<\/strong>a large healthcare system hospital featured a &#8220;tele robot&#8221; delivering <em>end of life <\/em>news to a patient. This interaction received widespread negative press at the time. In the interaction, a doctor is seen speaking through a video robot to the patient. \u201cAt some point the mask will not be enough,\u201d he says about the patient&#8217;s likely impending death.\u00a0 Although the video display of a human doctor was there, the robot delivery removed all personal human qualities of the interaction (links below).\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-aae56fa elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"aae56fa\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The best human physicians bring compassion, kindness, and empathy. When the interaction goes well they end up being the patient\u2019s advocate and friend through toughest times in life.
